Big No-no's in Plumbing

There are things that we do casually, that we do not realise are causing serious damage on our everyday living-essential.

If there's a thing one can't live without, that is water. Water is very essential in our daily lives. May it be water to drinking, washing the dishes or doing the laundry. We pretty much take for granted the clean access we have to water.

One way to be mindful to our home-essentials [water] is to take good care of it to last enough until we don't need it anymore. [which is impossible in this life time]

Here is a list of thing that we do not realise are causing way more serious damage. It is just important that we are made aware of these things, so we can avoid making them a habit.

FLUSHING THE WRONG THINGS DOWN

These types of items may initially go down the toilet okay, but then they get stuck somewhere along the drain line. When this happens, it not only can cause a clog, but if it gets completely stuck it may require removal of the entire toilet just to reach it.

OVER-TIGHTENING CONNECTIONS

You might think that tighter is better, but that is often not the case. Over-tighten a galvanised pipe, elbow, or coupling and you may crack the fitting. Over-tighten a toilet closet bolt at the floor and you could even crack the porcelain and mess up the toilet.

MISMATCH THREAD FITTINGS

You might think that tighter is better, but that is often not the case. Over-tighten a galvanised pipe, elbow, or coupling and you may crack the fitting. Over-tighten a toilet closet bolt at the floor and you could even crack the porcelain and mess up the toilet.

FORCING A STUCK SHUT-OFF VALVE

Sink and toilet shut off valves often become stuck in an open position when they are not operated for a long period of time. If you can’t turn the knob with just your hand, don’t think that forcing it to turn will somehow work. This not only can break off the knob, you could break the valve stem off too.

Some things are just out of our control and we don't always get to look after our things when we want to because, there far more important things to look after. In any cases of leakage or malfunction, the easiest and wisest thing you can do that can save you time and energy is to grab your phone, open iTaskApp or www.itask.com and book for the service you need. Choose from three different booking options and viola! get the service done without lifting a single thing [other than your phone of course]
